Consultation New Local Plan for Wakefield district

The Government requires local authorities to have up-to-date plans in place to guide development. The new local plan for Wakefield district will guide investment and growth, as well as safeguard and improve the environment, up to 2036.

The Local Plan was submitted for independent examination in May 2021. The Inspector has indicated that, subject to Main Modifications, the Plan is likely to be capable of being found legally compliant and sound. The Inspector’s Post Hearings Letter can be found on the Council’s website at: https://www.wakefield.gov.uk/planning/emerging-local-plan-2036/examination-library/inspectors-documents/. The purpose of this consultation is to allow for comments to be received on the proposed Main Modifications to inform the Inspector’s final conclusions on the Plan.

Consultation from Thursday 18 May until 5pm Wednesday 28 June 2023.
